Brake Whooshing Noise After V6 to V8 Conversion
I did the v6 to v8 brake conversion yesterday. A friend and I replaced the lines with stainless steel, put on the new rotors, pads, and calipers, then we swapped the master cylinder for the v8 master cylinder after bench bleeding it. We then did a pump method brake bleed.
A strange issue that I’m running into now is that when the car is on and in park, the pedal feels spongy and when the pedal travels about halfway down, there’s a whooshing noise coming from the firewall near the pedal. What could this sound be? Is it an indication that something needs to be fixed or is this now going to be the new normal? I would expect the pedal to be a lot harder than it is with the new brake setup. When the car is off and the pedal is pumped, it does get very hard. Thoughts? |

Get a power bleeder and bleed the brakes again just to eliminate possibility of air in the system.

spongy pedal - bleed the brakes again. you may need to get the ABS to cycle as well.
