Headers Gasket.

Hey guys quick question I'm about to get my Headers installed and wus wondering if I need a new set of gasket for Headers or the stock ones are good enough? or should I get new OEM ones? cuz the my headers only came with some kind of a seal.

If I remember correctly someone here said that the Aftermarket ones leak and the stock ones are better? or do they mean OEM replacement?

Stock is best! Some headers (like TSP) include a set of brand new stock gaskets but you will be fine to reuse the factory one's you already have on there.

Yes stick with the OEM headers. Either reuse your current ones or buy a new set from a GM parts supplier.

Don't use the paper gaskets they suck!! I ran them bc they came with the headers I bought and ended up have to buy a new oem gasket for the driver side just to make it home then reused on old one for the other side!! Never thought my grandpa would be right, he always said "use the stock stuff till it breaks"!!

Paper ones?? Haven't heard of that. Can you post a pics of it?

Mine came with like a rubber in a tube that when it dries it forms as a gasket.

I think I'm just gunna reuse the stocks ones till they break.

Good call. I wouldn't trust stuff that came in a tube

+1 on reuseing the factory gaskets or new oem gaskets. The aftermarket gaskets are usually junk. And there is nothing more annoying then a header leak.

OEM gaskets. Just make sure to match the port on the gasket to the header port. GM has made both D shape and round port gaskets. Just make sure the gasket matches the exhaust you are putting on.

We have been using OEM header bolts and gaskets for years with zero issues.

What they said. New OEM gaskets are what I recommend.

I used the ones that came with my headers and so far they are working OK. I did keep the stock ones just in case.

Yes the OE gaskets are best. I usually hit them with a quick coat of copper spray. There are some great aftermarket header bolts available too.
