I'm not sure if the gauges in the '98s are similar to later models, in this respect, but cold, I'm at 60+ lbs. above idle. I know the temp' gauges were crap in later models, but I thought '98s were good.

As far as best oil pressure, it's my understanding you want something like at least 10 lbs. per 1000 RPMs.

That oil pressure is fine. Some LS1's as they get older only have about 20 at idle. That is still ok. 7-10 lbs per 1000 RPM is what is recommended. If the gauge never moves, consider changing the sending unit( a PITA) its located behind the intake manifold on top of the block.

And yes 98 was the only year to have a fully functional temp gauge. The later years were basically an idiot light. The problem was being an all aluminum engine it fluctuates in temp alot. People were bringing their cars in thinking there was something wrong with it. Probably why the new Camaro reads "C Normal H" so they don't have to worry about that again.

LT1's at idle are known to run around 5-10psi. your oil press is fine. tho it should fluctuate some when you are driving.

Yeah at idle my lt-1 hovers around 7-8. Goes up as the rpm's increase o course. Think its a normal pressure.

Hey man I like your car. Where did you get that hood? Thats the only cowl hood I ever liked on a 4th gen. The others are too angular they don't look like they belong on the car. Got any more angles of it?
