Hey. Tried to place my order an the dealer wouldn't take it. Said their not taking any orders till after a January 9th meeting with GM. Anyone know anything about this? The sales manager said they'd be glad to take my order but they have to wait till after this conference. There's another dealer in my area, but the owners are a-holes and I refuse to do any more business with them. So, does anyone know anything about this Jan 9th thing?

just find another dealer. but basically the early January thing is a training video that talks about the Camaro and gets the salesmen that arent fanatics up to date with the car.

I would definitely find another dealer. There are hundreds of people on here who have been able to place orders at various dealers. Search for the MSRP dealers thread and there might even be one somewhere by you. It would even be worth a drive if needed. I had a similar issue with a dealer and I said I would never go back there. There are too many other dealers for that kind of nonsense.

The January 9th "thing" is a Chevy IDL training session. The session is supposed to have more information on the accessories, etc.

Your dealer is an idiot. Find another one, and make sure you tell the owner of this dealership that their idiocy has cost them another customer. Remind them that this behavior is part of the reason GM wants to cut so many dealerships from their network.

Refunding of deposits, or the unwillingness to place an order usually means one thing....

K, thanks guys. Would've rather had a dealer close to home, next closest dealer's to me's about forty miles away.

I'm buying mine 250 miles away. I have not bought from the local dealer since 1977. So far they missed out on 27 deals that went to where I went when they treated me wrong. ALL my Chevies have been serviced at the local Pontiac dealer.

I agree ...no orders means they have a short future.!

If GM closes these weak franchises does that mean reallocation for the remaining ones next March?

There's a dealer around here that has refused to take orders since the beginning, too. They sell a lot of corvettes here, too. We think they might use their orders for owners/family/VIP or just stock, but in any case, there were plenty others in the area who didn't do this.
