I've been reading here and other posts about switched power sources, one I found useful and very easy to get at is the wire to the cigarette lighter. I use this for my radar detector.

Installed mine a while back, passenger side, A-piller and ESCORT hard wire kit into the fuse box..

I have this same detector and mount. Does yours vibrate up and down a lot even on a relatively smooth highway? Mine does, and I know it can affect its effectiveness/range, but is there anything I can do to stop it? Thanks!

Mine does or should I say DID, but only on a bumpy road.....I fixed it though, I had some 1/4" black closed cell foam and cut a little piece as wide as the mount. Pulled it down a bit and put it in between the mount and the head liner.....NO VIBRATION!

Thanks for the idea, I'll keep an eye out for that foam. I did some experimenting on the drive home today and it seems it has a resonance around 72-75mph even on a smooth highway.

Have you noted any difference in laser sensitivity moving the 9500 up that high? I've ordered one of these mounts, just to get the detector off of the windshield and suction cups. However, that moves the detector further away from where most LEO will try to obtain a laser lock.

I now I havn't.....and on the passport website, it tells you to mount it as high as possible. not to mention, you really not going to be hit lasar from the back....so its WIDE OPEN in the front....

Hey themossman,

do you think I can put a phone dock station mount, hooking up the same way as the radar?
