If you lived in NJ you would realize the car is probably the least wasted money spent by an over grown, money grubbing, communist style government.

Probably not even a confiscated drug car.

As a police officer I can tell you, at least out here, there are vehicles which are owned by private owners and "donated" to the departments.

The Utah Highway Patrol has a marked, decked out Dodge Charger that's supercharged to 750 HP. It's owned by a private citizen but is on loan to the UHP for use at car shows, photo ops etc.

Nevada Highway Patrol had a 4th Gen Camaro they decked out with a huge stereo, extra lights etc they used to display at air shows and the like.

They're mostly a PR tool, not really meant to be a regular patrol unit. UHP did used to have IROC's back in the 90's for speed enforcement however....Troopers loved them.

As for people asking about the Crown Vic Police Interceptors, they're junk. I drive an '05 Impala Police Package now (Should get a new one next year, perhaps a Caprice instead) and it will outrun and out drive the Crown Vic....most guys with Crown Vic's hate them.
