150$ worth of Dynamat and pressure vents still rattle

Like the title says I just covered the whole trunk in dynamat to stop all the rattle, eliminate road noise, etc...... crank up the radio and the first thing my wife says is "its still making noise" so I got under the car and realized that it was the pressure release vents fluttering everytime the bass hits. I guess they are working properly but it is still irritating. Everything inside the car sounds great, no rattle and very tight bass, limited road noise and my exhaust drone is not audible with the radio at 8, but outside that flutter/rattle is always gonna be there I guess unless I cover them, which I read to absolutely not do.

read this

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...ht=trunk+vents

Also read somewhere that it messes up the way the window closes when you open and shut the door, how they raise and drop a little bit, maybe I can try something from the outside so that they still function but cant flutter like that

Maybe try putting some thin weather stripping on the actual vent so it has something soft to hit on instead of hard plastic.

Looking at the picture of them, I think I would cover the actual vent and then cut the little squares out of them, so than it least you have some dynamat on the main housing of the vent and that might help it from moving but still get air flow through it.

its not the actual vent moving that I can tell, it is the plastic flapper on the outside that is making all the noise when the pressure from the bass in the trunk presses air out, for now I took a piece of duct tape about 1" wide and taped the middle of both the top and bottom flapper so that air can still move out but the whole piece is not moving, it didn't eliminate the sound completely but it is much better than before

this is my problem to, well minus the Dynamat. I will try the weather stripping, that sounds like it might work the best.

I took me awhile to figure out just what as causing that rattle, it sounds like crap outside the car and sounded like it was coming from under the car.

For anyone that maybe having the same problem. this is the vent we are talking about.

Bingo - I actually used a few small pieces of the soft side of industrial strength 3M velcro to kill the rattle. Took me a while and had to tear the trunk apart twice to find what was causing that. Ticked me off for a while before I found it.

So I know of the one on the drivers side, is there also one on the passenger side? I will be doing this tomorrow, so I can finally turn my sub back on lol.

This is one of the major reasons I port all my boxes through the back deck. It eliminates a ton of trunk rattle and you get the actual bass inside the cab.

here is a thought. remove the flaps and let er rip. if my thinking is correct the only purpose they serve is to relieve air pressure. Well if they are not there at all . won't they still relieve the pressure?? the only draw back is that this becomes a direct line to the outside. so you might get a few bugs crawling in threw there.. but the rattle will be gone..

well it is very unlikely that you will get water in there. vacuum while driving may bring in a few drops .
