Nope, 1L or 1.2L I4 Gasoline. Could shoehorn a Voltec powertrain in it though.

I can see the CAFE/cali people loving an SS version of this car when the base hits 47mpg. Not sure if that's city or highway.. Heck I'm sure they could shoehorn a Voltec powerplant in that car as well.

1L = 66HP

1.2L = 77/78HP

Not a bruiser, but with a 12 sec 0-60 i'll do it on American Highways as is. I can see GM possibly pushing the I4 engine from the Cobalt/Cruze and forming an LS/LT/SS lineup.

Well...not exactly.

Next-gen Aveo will be more of a Fiesta fighter than the Spark. Aveo...or Viva...or whatever the hell they plan on calling it. Spark is even smaller.

Expect the interior design of the Viva to be somewhat similar to the Spark's.

This is cool!!!

I remember early on that this thing wasn't going to come to the US. They changed their minds, and its due in 2011 if I recall correctly. The Cruze is due in a little less than a year, with a 40mpg hwy rating, at least. Together these two -- plus the Volt...will REALLY bump up GM's CAFE score (making more room for cars like Corvette and Camaro.

Cruze starts production at Lordstown in April of next year, in fact, they're already retooling.

Viva will also be built at Lordstown in June 2010 for the 2011 model year.

Spark will launch first in Europe and Asia (similar the Cruze's launch, works out the bugs in the car) and then launch later for the US market, possibly in late 2010.

I assumed that the Aveo was being dropped in favor of the Spark while the Cruze was going to be a Focus fighter? It would then put the Malibu up against the Fusion, and the Alpha II Impala up against the Taurus.

Not to mention if it's really inexpensive it'll be one bad ass 'winter car' for us while our Camaros wait for summer!

Isn't the Orlando going to go up against the Flex while the Tahoe is dropped and the Traverse paves the way to lead the new Explorer CUV transition? IIRC Ford is going to cease the Explorer as an SUV and move it to AWD CUV status alongside the Edge which would compete with the Equinox.

Soo

Spark - Ka (? Fords gotta fight back..)
Viva/Aveo - Fiesta 5dr Hatch/Puma Coupe
Cruze - Focus
Malibu - Fusion
Impala - Taurus
Camaro - Mustang
Volt - lol Ford..
HHR - ...
Equinox - Escape/Edge
Traverse - Explorer CUV
Orlando (lol?) - Flex
Suburban - Expedition EL
Colorado GMT700 - Ranger
Silverado GMT900 - F Series

Orlando's going to be a 7-seater MPV on the Delta-II platform, basically what the HHR is to the Cobalt right now. It will replace HHR.

We're not sure about the status of GM's full size SUVs at this point...there was a rumor a few months back that Tahoe/Yukon would be replaced by Lambdas, but a lot of things have changed since then.

And still very little effort to make the car actually look good. Not as ugly as a smart but.....
