Trouble Starting

I recently changed my starter on my Camaro 2011 SS due to having hot starts. I added header wraps and even a starter wrap and keeps doing the same thing, now i get clicks now, won’t turn on when hot. I got 91 tune, long bbk headers, and twin disc clutch, few others things. I can’t figure out how to fix the issue. I haven’t tried changing the alternator, do you think that could be the issue? or ignition coils, or even coilpacks? I have heard that adding another ground cable could help or just replacing the ground positive cables all together!

So I already have a PowerMaster high torque start and an additional 0 gauge ground from driver side head to frame rail. What solved my hot start issues was 2 things. I added an additional 2 gauge ground in the trunk from the battery to the OE battery ground location. But I also had apparently unknowingly cross threaded that same battery ground location bolt (prior to the hot start issues), which caused the bolt to snap. I drilled it out and bolted it in with a new coated bolt from the under the car. So basically, I had a poor trunk ground. But I am certain that adding that trunk ground helped. Of course, all the hot start issues toasted my nice AGM battery, so I replaced that as well.

If I was giving advice, I would simply do one FAT cable underhood and another one in the trunk direct from the battery to the ground bolt. Of course you will want to check all other underhood and body grounds, if you haven't already. I haven't had a single issue since then (2+ years now).

Good luck! I know how much this sucks. When I was dealing with this getting gas was the most stressful time, as it was never long enough to allow the starter/cables to cool.

Sounds like you could possibly have a bad solenoid on the starter. I would take the starter off and have it tested at your local parts store.
