How would you go about this, if I wanted to connect to the dimming switch (to the left of the steering wheel) to control the lights?

Answered your question in the other thread you posted about this. ;)

My only question is, where do the passenger footwell lights get power from? I don't see where you attached the red wires for the passenger side lights (you tapped into the grey wire for the driver side).

I don't actually have the strips in front of me, so I'm not exactly sure what they look like. Are the light strips attached to eachother, so I'll have one red and one black wire in total? |
If I buy T-Taps like the ones below, do I need to buy a male end for them? Or is this all I need? I'm new to this, so I don't know very much!

Ya, you need a spade to slide into the end. You just wrap that thing around the wire, it clips or snaps on then you add the "tap" really really easy.

I just purchased these tap splices. They're 22-18 gauge, so they are the same gauge as the dome light wire. These will work, right? I shouldn't need anything else to splice the two wires?

Thanks a ton for the write up. Installed it today, only took about 20 minutes and it looks fantastic. I used a tap splice instead of the T-Taps because I could fit both of the LED powers into the one splice, rather than 2 T-Taps.
Footwell lighting definitely adds a luxurious feeling to the interior, I can't recommend this mod enough! |
Does anyone know if he connected both positive wires to the 1, 3 Amp Fuse that he used or did he use 1 In Line Fuse for each Positive Wire?
I plan on using 2 LED Strips, 1 for each side. Also, about how much extra wire do you think you used to wire everything together? Thanks. |
Easiest to just use one fuse.

HOLY F*** S***
Man,... I've had 4 Back Surgeries, 3 Back Fusions and 1 Neck Fusion and I just attempted this today in the Florida Heat in my Driveway. Being 6'2" I thought I was going To Die today Ladies and Gentlemen. Not to mention I F****** Up! All Day I kept telling myself Grey Wire 1st Socket, Grey Wire 1st Socket, Grey Wire 1st Socket and what the hell did I do? I was and Am, So Pissed,... It just started getting dark and I started rushing at the end. Hey, I have a question for everyone here Please.. Something Strange happened when I ran my wires Behind the Dash from the Passenger Side to the Driver Side. I used a Homemade Cardboard Stick about 18" Long to feed the Wires through. My Keys Were Out of the Ignition and when I Poked the Wires Out by the Drivers Side, Everything Dinged Once like I had turned the Key On and my Trunk Popped Open. Any Ideas? Also does anyone happen to know what the other grey wire that connects to the 2nd plug is used for by chance? I bought the same kind of Taps as CyberGreyConvertible did but mine are 18/20 (18 Being the Inside/20 the Outside-Just So You Know) because that's all that RadioShack carry's so I guess I'm going to just cut my Fuse Off and leave that Tap in place and try again with that Grey Wire in Plug #1. Anyone see any Issues with that? Thanks everyone. Jim |
The connector next to the grey one has two grey wires. They are for door lock unlock signals.
