I believe camaroscotty posted somewhere that GM has pulled the plug on the foot well lighting. So if you want it, you will have to come up with something on your own and this is good option right now.

That sucks, if anything I'd like to get a hold of just the plug, that way removal in case it needs to go in for warranty work would be easy as unplugging and cutting a few zip ties.

Can you point to where this connector is that you have the picture of?? Are you sure it's for the footwell lighting and not the the dash ABL?

Thanks!

My 2SS doesnt even have this plug. I wonder if they stop putting them in. As for the footwell lighting, i was thinking of putting a two position switch in kinda like the dome light switch and having it when switched to one position connecting to the dome light and functioning in sync with it. And in the other position connected to the ambient lighting and staying on when its on.

Come to think of it, a three position switch would even be better, the third position is always on. Only problem with that is running the battery down if you forget it is in that position!!

Thanks for providing the location to the dome lighting in the footwell, now just need to tap the ambient lighting power.

Not sure if this is pertinent but found it on the CTS-V forums.

Easy job! I found out that dome light connector already have a couple of wire taps on it from my alarm installer! ;) Lots of wire taps on that baby! A very easy install! We'll see how they look tonight! Thanks for the DIY!!

can you hook these up to do both? as in come on and off when the dome light is on and a switch to turn it on whenever you want?

FwyFlyer 01-08-2010 03:43 PM

Wait! does it have taps on it from GM? or you alarm installer put some on it as well as yourself? Another question: with the doors closed, when you switch the dome on manually, do the foot wells come on too?
Thanks

You would just need a SPDT switch to select between the dome circuit and constant power. See diagram attached.

yes, he already answered. Mine had taps on it from the alarm installer - NOT from GM. he used the lights coming on to set the alarm off - someone opening the doors.

And as already answered, the foot wells do come on when you turn on the dome light ;)

Works great! Such as easy mod too! No drilling to hang the light bars. i just zip tied them.
