Switchblade Key Fob Damaged by Repair Shop. Now what?

My air condenser was replaced by a repair shop that I have gone to on numerous occasions. The garage was nice enough to drive my car back to my house for me, and put my key fob in the mailbox like I asked them to.
But when I woke up this afternoon to get my keys out of the mailbox, they were gunked up with grease which I tried to wipe away, only to find that there was a big hole in the trunk button that I know wasn't there previously.
As you all probably remember there was a recall on these and I never went and got the new ones because I like to switch blade fob better.

So should I just say nothing or should I let them know about the damage, because chances are I'm just going to have to go to the dealership and get the replacement key fobs anyway.

It’s probably just old and cracked deteriorated away. Order one on Amazon and replace the guts with this one

Do they all need a key cut by a locksmith, like this one?
Edit: YouTube has just about everything.

Looks like the original fobs are a p.i t.a. to get open however.

There is just a little roll pin that holds the key on. You don't even have to get them cut. Just swap your existing key into the new fob.

FYI, in my experience the aftermarket fobs don't last as long as the factory ones, but that is just something you have to live with. I had a fob fail the same way yours did and another on the way out.

That fob is wore out and is due for replacing anyway. That would have happened soon anyway so I wouldn't worry about it. When my fobs wore out, I replaced them with these https://www.ebay.com/itm/295814531489. And yes the factory fobs was such a pain to get open. I think I ended up taking a pair of needle nose pliers and breaking off the back because over the years the fobs got so full of gunk they wouldn't separate.

Look up: Batteries Plus Bulbs. There are several near me so see if you have one.
They stocked my '10 SS key fob plus the equipment to program it. I bought 2 since
I only had to pay for one set up. In stock, inexpensive and in and out of their store
in less than an hour.

Doesn't the dealership still offer these switchblade fobs even if you decline the new ones they provide for the recall? That's what I did about 7 years ago. Unless these are discontinued as well??

I bought these 2 years ago and paid the extra $20 to have them cut my keys. They did it from a high resolution picture and work perfectly. Both are still holding up great for a $40 investment. My car only came with one key and no fob and programming was simple.

They do but depending on your dealer, they are very expensive.
