Well.. I take it you are thinking the handling on a camaro isn't going to be that good? I don't think so at all.. There have already been Professional Drifters who are looking at the camaro when it comes out, of course they will mod it, hell there's an american who uses the newer body style Mustang to drift, forget what year.. buuuut.. Did you ever watch the Video of Dale Earnhart Jr driving the Camaro on the track? Looked to me like it handled nicely with him whipping it around and I'm sure they will make or already have made improvements in that area.
You can also always mod either car to what you like best. New Camaro SS/RS for me! Vette's are definately nice though! |

I have the same problem!
The overall performance of the Vett is so appealing. I could go one for days about the pros and cons off both. I decided that a pony car fits me just fine, and I can cure the performance problem with a supercharger and be plenty happy! |

Here's how to avoid buying a 2006 or 2007 vette.
DRIVE A 2008! The improvements to shifting, steering, and the extra 30HP (36 with a NPP exhaust) makes the others obsolete. My previous employer had about 30 07's on the lot when the 08's came out.....they unloaded the 07's well under their cost....nobody wanted the car without the upgrades. They still have a few today. |

Back in 04 I bought an 01 Z06 from a guy, only had 6500 mile on it and I got it for 31k, best deal I ever made. If you can find a vette from a guy who looked at it more than drove it (which there are plenty of those guys out there) that is the one that you are going to get the best value on. Mine still had some warranty left and really I have never had any real issues with the car anyway. And since I bought it used I really do not feel bad about driving it. I am looking now for a limitied edition 04 lemans blue Z06 with the carbon fibre hood (only made about 2000 of these). I have seen quite a few of these with under 10k in miles for around 35k, that would be a great car to consider. With just some minor mods like long tube headers, x pipe, corsa indy exhaust and a new throttle body and intake I was able to coax that puppy up to 475HP pretty easily. I have been thinking about super charging it as well.

I just also know that the 'Maros weight penalty over a base C6 will mean the Vette's (Z51 suspension) and power advantage will mean a well-driven C6 Z51 should walk at least 1.5-3 seconds over a well-driven SS Maro on a road course, after several laps. The Z06 will absolutely thrash the Camaro. PS - I hope to be proven wrong, believe me! I want to make on other point -- this is an amazing time for buyers -- we are lucky to have such tough choices! On a more subtle point -- NOTHING beats sitting in a brand-new car, that you really wanted, off the floor, for the first time! As one can surmise -- this is a very tough choice! (I'll be getting the Camaro, the Vette will remain a dream for now).
