Camaro rear question

Hi, I am looking at both the V6 and V8 Camaro's and want to know if the rear that comes with the six is the same rear that comes with the eight. I'm going to drag race it so a strong rear that I can beef up (Mark Williams alxes!!) is a must. Thanks

The V6 auto is smaller and doesn't have limited slip.

That is what I believe to be true, but it isn't warranted as being correct.

I hope you mean 2LT. I got a 1LT/RS with basically every option for $28,030.

Rear on the V-6 manual transmission cars employs a limited-slip differential.
The axle halfshafts on all V-8 models and manual transmission-equipped V-6 models are 30 mm in diameter on the left side and 40 mm on the right side. This design feature helps reduce the oscillation of torque from side to side and reduces axle hop.

Why? V6 makes a great drag car..... MOST guys will be either bracket racing or modified bracket where the name of the game is consistency... and I can tell you the V6 auto is incredibly consistent...

I've made a lot of passes in my V6 auto with no issues...

And who knows... someday some will will figure out what is needed to stick a built up SS rear end in a V6 auto! LOL!

I think what he is getting at is that he plans to change the motor and transmission anyway. Therefore, if the rear ends are the same, he may as well buy the cheaper V-6 since the rest of the car would be the same.

Yea that is what I had in mind, I have a turbo 400 sitting in my shop all ready to go. Just need a different converter. Is the rear housing the same on the V6 manual?
