With snow tires this was one of the best cars I've ever driven through a New England winter. I work about 45 minutes from home and I also work nights... which means I've driven right through the worst storms last season had to offer. From my perspective, I was the most stable car on the road...

With winter tires, it was a tank last winter. Did better than our front wheel drive saturn with all seasons on it. Honest. |

Good to hear all the positive comments. I will not be attempting to use the summer tires this winter either; I think I'm gonna roll with the Yokohama Parada Spec-X.

Below 40 degrees let alone freezing the Summer Pirellis lose traction & become slippery even on dry roads. Last October as soon as the temps dipped below 40 during my morning commute I could feel I was losing traction on dry roads, can't imagine driving on wet roads with ths Summer Pirellis.
I had bought 20" Bridgestone Blizzaks and Sport Edition ST4 rims from Tirerack back in September '09 so I was able to swap the tires/rims quickly. I am lucky that my Chevy dealer offered to store my off-season tires/rims so its easy for me to make the swap. I love the performance/handling of the Blizzaks, superb traction in all conditions and way quieter than the Pirellis. Pic of the Blizzaks/Sport Edition ST4s below. Go to www.tirerack.com/snow to see their tire/rim packages and options for 18" - 19" - 20" tires and rims - as always shop around for the best pricing and rim selection.

I have not got delivery on my car yet, but I have experience with Mustangs in the snow. If you must go out in the snow drive VERY VERY SLOW. Remember the car is RWD and can fishtail if it hits something slipperly you did not notice. I just let everyone pass me and all the people w the trucks that want to drive like animals in the snow I let them pass. I have also seen other RWD sports car owners going as slow as me and I have seen some try and go with traffic and spin and crash. Just be cautious and SLOW haha.
If you REALLY must go to work in the snow you can always take a cab and at tax time that taxi ride was work related travel, or see if your company will let you put it on the expense reports immediately. |

Yokohama prada x all seasons. I used them last winter on Long Island and did not have a problem even the day after a 26" snow storm. You have to drive responsibly, but I can tell you, from experience, the 10/11 are much better in the snow than previous years. What ever you do, don't use the Perellis' in winter.

Sounds like the stock tires are useless, as I guessed they would be. I have a 350Z now and used to run Blizzaks in the winter and it was fine. However, being in Oklahoma now there is not enough snow to justify snow tires. I guess I will continue with my plan to find a 4x4 as an extra car.

i got stuck in my driveway going DOWNHILL in late march with my LS3 trying to go to the gas station to fill up the tires. Driveway had only a little hard packed snow on it. never again.

Sure the camaro can drive in snow, but, do you want to put your car through all the salt and sand that the put on the roads to melt ice and snow? Remember, salt+oxygen+metal don't go together.

i drove my camaro with summer p-zeros (my daily driver) in "white out conditions" last year. it was a nightmare... you just have to be very very slow and careful. the tough part was getting moving. put the car in drive while on ice/snow, and your car will just sit there spinning the tires, without even pressing the gas pedal. i'm not doing that again on the pzeros...
