Smile MAD MAX

I just got done watching MAD MAX, great movie. How in the heck did they do the switch to throw the S/C on? Is that possible or is it Holloywood Bull? If it was possible what would be the advantage of having it?

well in theory, you could run some type of clutch on one of the pulleys, kind of like the ac clutch.. but it would need to lock up solid to not slip. But I bet it could be done, though no real reason..

That's right. They used a magnetic clutch pulley.

Unless i'm mistaken, the MM car was a show car only. The SC didn't really work. Don't know if it's feasable. I'm sure there's someone much smarter than us out there that could do it. Don't know why you'd want to though.

That's true also, the movie cars had a hollowed out Weiand blower with a carb underneath. they use an electric motor to turn to the fake pulley on and off on the blower. These cars have a large following ,and many different things have been tried, but to keep to the movie car spec you won't have a working blower.

I really don't know how well that would work anyhow to have the car running without the blower turning. That would be like choking the motor.

And what's really funny about a highly modded cop car in Australia is that it's illegal to drive these types of cars on the road there.

I have a video somewhere of a MM clone I saw a couple months ago, the guy cleared out a real blower and placed it over his carb with an AC clutch for turning it on and off. In reality... once you stopped the blower, there would be no way for air to get to the intake and the care would not run. The gears in the blower need to be air tight or very near to it in order for it to force air into the engine so turning it off would plug up the engine. I'm not an expert, this just sounds like the logical thing.

most amazing thing about that car.....its a 1973 XB GT Ford Falcon Coupe!!! A lot of folks confuse it with a 1970 AMX, which woulda been a HELLA BADASS Interceptor with that 401 going on!
