Very, very lucky....I didn't see if he reduced the speed but 69 in a 55 here is about 200 bucks..
Most states advise an officer cannot issue a SPEEDING ticket for 1-4 over, but at any time they can issue a citation for driving to fast for conditions if it is a curve, hill, rain, ice..so on...I didn't write the rule book, just telling you what is in it...

Consider yourself lucky! this past summer me and my dad (he can't drive he is legally blind) where driving back from St. Augustine FL to Memphis, TN I got a 69mph in a 55mph ticket in my 1998 Honda CRV!!! And it was $245!!!!!!! !! When I get my Camaro I will avoid the state of Alabama like it's death!
Plus it was in a low populated farm area with no traffic or signs of life, except for the police offier

First ticket in the Camaro. Watch yourself in Arizona. Making a visit to my sister in Tucson last month and Darn cameras. The state does not make a very good attempt to let you know that your being monitored by cameras. First time I'd been in AZ since early 2000. $245.25 for 61 in 45. Tried to take a course to get rid of it and they make it such a hasle I just said pay it. What was the big surprize was then the letter came in the mail and the wife got it first. Not good. It's just that the Camaro is so easy and runs so smooth that you just don't relize what your doing. After the visit to Tucson I was headed north on 95 outside of Vegas with the open road ahead of me and "why not" hit the go button, level off at 95 and WOW!!! Next thing I see is a Furd Expedition w/a bar on top. "Oh s$ht" Lights came on, I slowed down, he left them on for about 30 seconds, waved at me and went on down the road. All the people in NV said he was just saying hello. Made me watch my speed all the way home. Of course I had no idea that the ticket from AZ was following me home. OH WELL!!! Now I have to be a good boy for at least a year

There are a few good radar detectors out there and the rest of them ARE worthless. If you have one that costs over $300 and you drive smart, they will save your azz and have saved mine many times over. They are not infallable and should be used with caution by being aware and don't speed blindly. A radar detector could have warned you a mile back when the cop lased someone ahead of you, therefore, you would have held back not passing the two vehicles and saving you a ticket. There will always be situations where a detector won't save you, but mine has payed for itself many times over and I have a heavy foot with no tickets on my record. I have an Escort 8500 x50, but will get a Valentine 1 next time, both are great. Sorry about your misfortune.

I have been driving Scarlett for over a year without getting pulled over and without a radar detector. My husband buys the latest Passport for my birthday and about 2 weeks later I get a ticket ( 76 in a 50 ). I was in a small town and got a ticket for no front plate either. And later that day I got pulled over again but didn't get a ticket that time. I am actually going to court this week. I hope they reduce my ticket so I can take def driving and remove my ticket for no plate. I got a retractable front plate holder. Wish me luck.
