Need "sticky" tire help....best gripping 305/315 rear?

Hey Guys,

trying to figure out what tire works the best before i go waste more money on tires that don't grip very well. I'm currently running Nitto NT05's on my supercharged car. The rear size is 315/35/20. They don't hook up for crap. Just looking for a good tire to run around, I don't care about wear, but just something I can use in 1st gear without going to a drag radial. I know there isn't going to be a tire that holds through first gear all the time, but when I had my stock wheels/tires, the stock Pirellis held really well. Far better than the NT05's and Invos.

I'd just like to get some opinions from those that are putting down some good power and are running those tire sizes and hearing what is working best.

Thank you in advance!
-Chris

The NT05 is going to be one of the better non-drag radials on the market. Sounds like you should move up to 305/35-20 Nitto NT555R drag radials.

They can still be driven in rain, until they are half worn. Many people use the 555R as a daily driver tire.

Hard to believe your stock tires held better than the NT05 tires. I just put my stock wheels/tires back on my own supercharged Camaro and I feel like I'm driving around on ice. They are horrible traction-wise.

Ok well I will keep that in mind. How is the ride with the drag radials? I didn't realize you could drive on them as a daily driver. Cool. I had Invos before and they didn't hook at all so I sold them. I thought the NT05's would be a lot stickier, but they haven't been so far. I think maybe when they get hot during a track day they might be great, but unfortunately that isn't the case driving around town.

When I first got the car supercharged, I had the stockers on for a month or so and it would actually hold most of 1st gear. Now 1st gear is totally pointless. I might be pounding sand right now because I know most of the tires need to get hot to produce better traction, but I just wanted to see what others had to say.

thanks for the feedback!

Already on my 3rd set of rear street tires. All different manufacturers. None of them will hold second gear, let alone first

Your car makes identical power to mine, 534 rwhp. No normal street tire will hold that in 1st gear. You have to control traction with that taller pedal on the right.

The ride on the NT555-R is the same as any radial tire. Just the rubber compound is softer.
