Thanks IBM/2SS/RS/LS3 I feel more at ease. I gotta quit worrying about this trip, u guys got this handled!
Milk, Fresno should have less than 10 ppl. I know Rob53, Norma, Me, and Revo1 are for sure! elpatofeo, sangerbanger, whiteknight are maybe's. Others may show up (sry if I missed anybody) FYI: our Fresno spot has ample parking (EZ Truck Stop) Chevron (with Johnny Quick), Shell, 76 Burger King, Taco Bell, Starbucks!!! We're ready for ya! 64 days and counting!

The exit we are taking is Merle Haggard.
(This is where we met when we went to the park with SAChevy) There are two gas stations accross from each other, as far as food , there is a jack in the box, a del taco, and a denny's. I think we are going to try to park in the hotel parking lot. If that is not enough, I will try talking to someone at Three-way chevrolet. They have an old building there that is completely empty, the only thing is we will need someone to open it up for us. From Merle Haggard, we take junction to the 99 south, and another junction will get us right on the 58 east. We won't have to worry about lights except for the one on Merle Haggard. I'll get a google map drawn up. So we have 5 from Bakersfield, about 10 from Fresno. I'm guessing about 10-15 more from norcal? |

Well, if we meet at Morongo at 1pm.. San Diego group will need to leave around 10am, to be on the safe side. 1h 56m drive for us, not including traffic.

Here we go....my 2cents:
So I cruised out to Blythe today for work and scoped out what I could on the limited time I had. I was not able to stop at this exit but scoped it as I went by. I would like to move the meet up point out of Cabazon, east another 20 miles into North Palm Springs. The exit is N Indian Canyon Drive, there is Shell on one side of the freeway and a Chevron the other. There is a Del Taco, Jack in the Box, Wendy’s and a truck stop. From what I could see from the freeway there should be plenty of parking, and a few places to eat. I plan on making a road trip out there in the next 2 weeks to check it out, but wanted to get it out there for discussion.

Is the plan still to have all the groups meet at the “Big Location” (Cabazon or Palm Springs). If so then my suggestion for the IE would be the Moreno Valley Mall at the 60/215. That would be in an area that could catch people from the 91 (riverside county portion), 15 and 215 south end Riverside county, and the 10/60 San Bernardino/ Rancho/fontana, Even High Desert people. Let me know what you think?

I've been around the N Indian Canyon Dr area on my way to Glamis and if the Pilot is full of trucks we're screwed... I had a hard time parking my toyhauler because there were so many trucks..
Cabazon (Morongo Casino) has a ton of parking, Coco's Bakery, A&W, Panda Express, Hadley Fruit Orchards, Fatburger, LA Italian Kitchen, Nathan's hot dogs and ice cream at Haagen Daz (and that's just the food court). Food at the outlets includes: Ruby's Diner and several others.. The Morongo Travel Center has 32 pumps that all have 87, 89 & 91 octane..

What we as SoCalers need to come to a decision/consensus on is what time we want to meet up with NorCal folk. I had suggested earlier that we meet them around 1pm and start rolling out no later than 2pm

Even assuming you could drive warp speed like the group did for the Duel in the Desert, factor in lunch or other stops, and don't forget a hundred or so Camaro's being checked out, it is 288 miles, likely arriving in their rush hour, we have at least 5 hours from Morongo, maybe more. So figure if we leave at 1:00PM, get there around 6:00PM? I would say earlier would be better, my 2 cents.
