Question Onstar renewal ?

Hello fellow mates,

I was wondering and hoping i can get some of ya'lls opinions on renewing your account with Onstar. Mine expires 3-16-11. So the question is should i call now and advise them i wanna cancel for "X" reason hoping they offer me a lower price or should i wait til that date gets closer?

What do you all think?

I would wait til its about to expire. This way you don't look to eager, and that your trying to get a deal.

Let it expire and they will beg you to sign back up with some great prices; same with XM radio. I got half off.

$12.99 doesn't sound like a lot, but adds up to $156/year, or $780 over five years. Are you sure it's worth it?

I bought a "lifetime" subscription for my XM and paid once... that's it for as long as I own my Camaro. Wish OnStar also offered this, I asked them but they just chuckled. Nice benefit, but not worth the $780 it will cost me over five years of ownership.

I just renewed mine. I was driving 50 miles form home and my check engine light came on. I was able to call OnStar and find out that it was a non issue. I have also come to love the OnStar navigation. I usually just enter the address at home and send it to my car via MapQuest/Google and I'm on my way.
IMO its worth the 299. I asked for a discount and they gave me a year for 240(for directions and connections) so ask for a discount.

I wish they had some option for cars that dont get driven much... I'd kinda like to have it just in case it gets stolen. My car only has about 6500 miles on it since I got it around April 4 2010. And currently I'm out of state, I haven't seen/driven it since the end of November. It's in storage.

My on star is about to expire (april), I just got a reminder today. I just can't see paying the 18.99/mo when its not being driven, and I don't know when I will get to drive it again. I could see paying like $10 a month??

I locked the keys in my truck this weekend. Standing outside in the cold with 3 kids and a quick call to OnStar had my truck unlocked.

Mine expires in like 2 days lol. I really want onstar but im not sure if i want the directions or not. If i could get a deal then of course but at 299 or a hundred extra i could just buy a new GPS every year and probably cheaper than that even.

The best they offered me was $249 a year for the nav package, that's like $50 off regular price, needless to say I let it expire.
