Now before I get a billion replies that say I have 50,000 miles on my XYZ stock LS motor with a (insert blower name here), consider this. If I take stone stock camaro and add a 300 shot of Nitous it won't hurt the motor if I never use it. Same can be said for 9psi - it works but it ain't right. This is coming from a guy that runs 12lbs on my Vette I driver it normal most of the time so .........
Well I know what u mean but I run 10 to 11 psi 35k miles on this setup flooring it everyday. Just pm chuckyx1 & he will tell u I abuse it every mile. Or ask Ted. So far so good. I haven't heard people blowing rings ..

Also with that said I really only give my motor 80k mile life expectancy .. every mile after that I will be ready for worse case scenario

I understand - also Centrifugals only make peak boost at peak RPM. So....... 11psi at 6300 and 4psi at 3500 is not like a maggie style which is 11psi from 3000 to 6300k

Im running 550rwhp on my L99 engine (Maggie induced) and am looking at either doing an LS3 conversion and forge the internals while swapping out the single bolt cam to a 3 bolt cam hoping for more hp and safety of the engine.

Now reading this thread, maybe swapping to a LSX-454. But have read in "alot" threads that the LSX-454 cant handle a blower because the walls are too thin to handle high boost. Is this true? Was thinking either a ProCharger or Vortec since my Maggie cant produce enough boost to handle 1000+ rwhp.

Guess im in the same situation as the op is.

What do you think? Can the LSX-454 handle boost?

Thanks,
Taz

You can bore a LSX block out to many different sizes. I went with the 427 LSX since I will be using a F1A procharger and a 200 shot of nitrous. I like the extra strength of the thicker wall and I can easily make up any difference in HP between a 454 and a 427.

We are finishing up a lsx 454 in my car with a 2300,we will see how it goes .I would not recomend this combo for a hard driven car for many reasons,it was just a deal and a promotional move that made sence.

Please keep us updated on your car. Very interested in how this combo works out.

You would think the LSX 454 with mild boost at 10psi or under would survive a long period of time. Can't be worse than a stock LS3 or L99.

Such a large displacement engine, with 10 lbs of boost, how much increase of hp do you expect? Will it make 1k rwhp?

Im not sure the fuel is going to be as bad as everyone fears untill you add boost to the 454. It would likely lose 5mpg highway over the ls3 n/a. Plus if you are planing on spending that much money moding you car you shouldn't be worried about mpgs
