An ECM update may take care of it, if it's not happening on every cold start. GM needs to check the codes and go from there.

Or a bad "wiggling Pin" about to break off of the "Wobbling Shaft" spray a can of "Hydrodubbalicalate" on it. Seriously! it does sound like some type of "Acuator" going nuts.

Sounds like the variable valve timing actuator or gear. I work at a Toyota dealer and there is a TSB on some of the motors for this very symptom. It happens when the oil drains down out of the cam gear, and when started up cold, it takes a sec for the oil pressure to build back up in the gear. Toyota's fix is to replace the offending gear with an updated part, I assume that would be the fix in this case.

Yeah - getting it to do it for the dealer is an issue. But it'll get fixed...

This is the same noise I have when stating my car with the Trifecta Ghostcam activated. Would really like to know what it is.
