I'll bet you are glad that you change your own oil and were able to catch this.

Have to get in touch with Ted, he said he'd send me a new rocker.
Good thing you caught it when you did. It could have been much worse. The bad thing is you did the upgrade to ensure this wouldn't happen. Pulling the oil pan is not an easy job. Good luck.

No way to get the pan out unless you pull the motor. Good luck, home the damage is contained.

BFD, what about your engine full of pins?

Are they going to foot the bill to clean the engine out of foreign contamination?

Sorry, I forgot to make this clear in my last post. Both rings were still on when we removed it. Something went wrong inside the bearing and you can see the wear on the rocker where it allowed rockers to start popping out.

Yeah...I didn't really ask about that but I am in the process of planning forging the internals so we'll see. Don't worry, this isn't something I will forget, but it also could have been a manufacturing defect at Comp Cams...since the rings were still on

If it were mine, I'd put the new rocker on, run it for a bit, do an oil change with inexpensive oil and repeat.

Yep, the new rocker is going in, then flush the heads and pistons with oil, then put all new oil in.

I'm also going to put a magnet from a speaker on the bottom of my oil pan.

I've never seen it but whats done is done. I've done a few of the rebuilds myself and you can hose them pressing them back together. Its quite easy to do actually.
I think there is 28 of the needles?
get a count on what you have to know for sure but if your taking it apart to forge it anyway then its a moot point I guess.
