Question Tire shine on rims

Kinda explains my issue in the thread title. Looking for some advice, I used some tire shine from McGuires that was messy and it got on my rims. I thought I wiped it off before it set, but now I see residue. I've tried a mild cleaner, but this stuff isn't coming off.

Any suggestions on how to get this crap off my rims w/o damaging it? Goo Gone?

What kind of rims. Have you tried a wheel cleaner or maybe clay bar?

Car wash with the prewash soap and follow with regular wash should take it right off. Option 2 is drive in a few rain storms. I wouldn't use anything too strong on these wheels. Clearcoat safe wheel foam should work, nothing stronger though and apply only to cold wheels in the shade.

I would try some detail spray and clay bar, then follow up with a good sealant.

Did you use that Endurance stuff? I had the same problem. I talked to a Meguires guy at a car show and he said he'd never heard of this problem. So I'm glad to see someone else has the same issue. He gave me a few sample packets of their pre-wax cleaner which did the trick. After using that I put a good coat of wax on the wheels, hopefully that will cure the problem. Although I'm not planning on using that Endurance stuff again, or if I do I'll be MUCH more careful to not get any on the wheels.

YES! That's the very one. Right, he never heard of it before.... He knew exactly how to fix it though, right?

and I was careful but that stuff just sucks, it's messy.

What was that pre wax cleaner called?

Are you guys talking about that purple crap in a spray bottle? I tried that several months ago and had the same problem. ' Took goo gone and lots of elbow grease to get it off. ' Even had to use a magic eraser pad here in there, which probably wasn't good for the finish. Months later I'm still finding more that residue showing up now on then. Do NOT use this stuff! Stick to their older tire shine products. At least those don't stick when they get on your rims and paint!

The product he gave me was their deep crystal system paint cleaner. It's step 1 of a 3 part system. Cleaner, polish, wax. It still took a fair amount of elbow grease to get it off.
He did say to ONLY spray the Endurance on an applicator then carefully apply it to the tire. Well no kidding, that's what I did to start with! I won't be using that stuff again...
