My son owns what the Silverado SS should have been. He might chime in after he gets off work.
RCSB, 2WD is the lightest version. Original SS Silverados were AWD and extended cabs. Too much weight for the power they made. Later Silverados SS were 2WD. Might want to look at the Joe Gibbs trucks too. http://www.superchevy.com/features/t...o/viewall.html |

Here's mine. I've had it since 2003, I got it at a dealer with only a few thousand miles on it, Previous buyer decided he wanted a new Corvette instead. As of right now 107xxx miles on it. I mostly drive it on weekends I have a company vehicle I drive during the week. 16-17 mpg, I have the Black Bear Performance Tune. Love will probably never sell it.
Here's some pics plus I'll throw some in of Camaro RS/SS and Impala SS.

You've got a pretty good line up there
The loan went through, so the SS is mine if I want it. The only thing I'm really asking myself is if I want that kinda gas mileage. It would be a pretty big difference going from a 4.3 Xtreme Blazer running 87 octane to a full size truck with a 6.0 that requires 93 octane!

Get a Black Bear Performance Tune, that will give a 2-4 extra mpg. He's member here http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/

Yep, that's mine. I wish GM actually made a RCSB version of the SS. The reason they didn't is the engine. All Silverado SS's have the 6.0L LQ9 engine (same engine in Cadillac Escalade, etc.) The largest engine available in a 1500 truck was the 5.3 (my truck has this) and GM simply wasn't adventurous enough to install a 6.0 in a RCSB from the factory. Although the 5.3 moves the truck just fine, a 6.0 LQ9 would be an awesome swap. The LQ9 was powerful enough to make the AWD Silverado SS run mid 14's @ 95+ MPH in the 1/4 mile stock. Imagine what it could do in a 2WD RCSB truck.

I averaged 13.8mpg everywhere in mine.
After the magnacharger, it dropped to 11...sure was fun though. I just wish I could find some stock ss wheels for my current DD silverado. |
