I got them road force balanced and it was corrected. Car felt better after. The mechanic who did the test said my back 2 tires were out of spec for road force, said something like 0.46, or 0.046, cant remember. Not sure what that means but I'm going to have to see how it feels in the morning.

So this morning, car is still vibrating. I've balanced these 3 times, once with Road Force. This is crazy. I'll be giving tirerack a call and hoping to return these.

ARE YOUR WHEELS HUB CENTRIC???? I see where several members have asked. If they are not and you don't have the hub centric rings it can cause vibration no matter how good the tires are balanced.

If they are aftermarket wheels make sure the hub rings are installed. If not you may have an out of round tire. Tires with road force #'s that high should be swapped out under warranty. Feel free to contact me direct. |

I believe they are hub centric. They are the Style 41's from Factory Reproductions.

Just talked to Rudy, great customer service. Set me up with someone to get my back tires swapped out. Thanks! Hopefully that's all it is.

I had this issue with my last Camaro. Stock rims. It went on for 5 months. Took it to the dealership ~6-8 times. Had it escalated all the way up to the corporate offices. The dealership would say the steering wheel shake was normal (not just a light shaking. Violent shaking back and forth.) Payed for new tires and 4-5 balances. Had break rotors resurfaced. They wouldn't swap the rims/tires out for new ones just to test if it was the issue even though from what I could tell that seemed to be the problem. I swapped them out with another Camaro club member's rims and there was no more vibration until I put mine back on. I explained that to the dealership and they told me I just wanted new rims for free... Yea. Yea I actually did considering I hadn't damaged them to see if it would solve the issue permanently. Nope.
I told the GM rep over the phone about the vibration and how it seemed to go away when I swapped rims. He told me "We'll what do you want me to do about it?" Well... Moron, obviously tell the dealership to swap out for new ones to see if the problem goes away. (That's when I had it escalated to the corporate offices because that guy was no help.) Finally GM told me to take it to a different dealership. I did. Westside Chevrolet in Katy, TX. They looked at the car after I explained the issues, handed me back the keys and told me have a nice day and to leave. I'm assuming they saw the headers on my car and figured a tire vibration had something to do with headers. I did a burnout and threw rocks all over their new cars. They can suck it for all I care. Went and traded my SS in that day and left with a slightly used ZL1. Haven't had any issues since and love the car. Customer Service only goes so far with dealerships. They aren't interested in your problems if it will cost them money since they can't figure out the issue after the 2nd 3rd time. GM quits paying them after a couple times because they're supposed to fix it the first time. Maybe if they listened to their customers and tried to fix what was wrong it might actually solve the problem... I had one of the service guys try to tell me I didn't know what it was and it was the torque converter on my car causing the issue. Yea bud. Those torque converters on manual transmission cars always have issues right? LOL! Think about that one for a second... Dealership customer service people are idiots. Best of luck with your issues. I hope they don't cause you to type long pointless rants like this down the line and your dealership takes care of you.

For some reason the only reason I could get mine balanced is this place here in Augusta that balances truck (big rig) tires, and they do this while its on the car.
I have 22's and after they did it, it feels as if I'm riding on rails. |

Yeah, I heard the on car high speed indexing is the way to go. But I am in CT. and I cant find anyplace that does it. Hopefully I am overblowing this and the new tires will do the trick. I dont want to take them off the car, they look absolutely sick!!

Couldn't agree more. If you can find a place that does on car balancing, that's the best way as it will account for the whole rotating assembly. Just make sure you mark the wheel before removal so it will go back the exact same way or your balance will be off again.
