What?
This thread has got to be a joke. If any parent would GIVE a 14 year old one of the hottest new American cars on the market..I need to know where they are so I can punch them the F*** OUT. Anyone who would do that is a moron. |

Oh my, what a bunch of grownups we are. The kid's parents are helping him get a really nice car. Not all of us got that but some did. I developed an interest in cars as a kid because I had a brother who invited me in to the fold of Car Guys and thus was a Car Chick born.
Welcome, kid to the forums. Don't pay any attention to the squawking about entitlement in kids these days. I have an RS and it has plenty of go, but I'm not a teenager anymore and don't really need a V8 or the trouble I could get into driving one even at 53 years old. My first car was one daddy bought me and granted it wasn't a Camaro... (6 cyl 3m mustank) but it was certainly encouragement for me to further my love of cars by helping me get going in one. Hopefully these guys will stop ragging on you about being a very lucky young man long enough for you to show us you're also a likeable kid looking for some mentors. |

I didn't even bother reading this whole thread, just the first 10 posts or so and I just had to add my 2 cents....is this kid serious? Besides the fact that it is ridiculous that a 14 year old would be getting any camaro, there is definitely no reason to get the v8. that is just asking for trouble. putting aside all the costs and everything, why would you want to put yourself in a position for trouble. a v8 will be way more than a young kid can handle and will only get you in trouble. The V6 is more than enough power most drivers, definitely for a kid.
FYI, I just got my 2LT 10 days ago and had to switch insurance, it jumped to $230 a month....that is for the 6 cylinder my young friend. you are going to pay at least 50% more than that per month for insurance on the 8 cylcinder. Also gas is premium instead of regular, and mpgs aren't as good, so you will spend a lot more in gas. You should definitely not be looking at the SS. But do your thing...if you can convince mommy and daddy to foot the bill on a $34,000+ SS then maybe you can convince them to pay for gas and insurance too. lol |

The auto SS has smaller gears, and a 400 hp engine, remember that. Manual SS has a more aggressive cam, and bigger gears. So my point is, if I felt a difference between 400 and 426, you sure as hell will feel a difference from 304 to 426. Quote:
