Painting the calipers?

Ok I'm picking up my black LS sat morning (if all goes well). My question is, I once saw a DIY on her where the person had done a write up on how to paint the calipers. Idk what I'll paint them. I want to black out the car but was thinking of perhaps painting the calipers orange just to offset the car a bit. But back to my question, can anyone link me to DIY for the calipers? I cant find it when I do a search.

I cant find his thread. Search comes up with no results. Also $300 is steep for some little calipers when I can do it myself for $50. I mean after I tint my windows, do a CAI, and exhaust I wont have $300 just laying around for calipers.

here is what i did.
removed tire and behind the caliper are 2 bolts, remove these bolts and pull calipers off. ( this is not mandatory if you don't pull them off you gotta tape everything so you don't get paint on rotors and such). once you disconnect caliper let it hang by the brake line. spray the caliper down with brake dust cleaner. i got mine at autozone.

give it a minute to dry and wipe down with clean cloth. once dry spray the calipers down with adhesion promoter then i used duplicolor primer spray. it will make it gray in color but will also help calipers take the paint much better. give it about 5 minutes to dry then spray on your paint. i used duplicolor metalcast paint i went with the red. i used 3 coats of the red paint, once it was dry i then used krylon clear coat on it. again i am no expert by any means but it worked for me and i also did my friends rims and used the same procedure and so far so good. again no problem with helping you do the abl whenever your ready.

One of my winter projects will probably be painting the calipers.

I think I'm going with the Duplicolor High Performance Caliper Paint Kit. It's only $16 at Advance Auto Parts. Too bad it only comes in red but that works for my Camaro.

MGP has caliper covers in red, black or silver for the Camaro.

Here is what you are looking for so that you don't spend $300.00 and it holds up to 900+ degrees. Read the entire thread. G2 is the paint.

G2 caliper paint is the inexpensive way to go. If you don't intend to show the car, go with the G2 paint. Otherwise powdercoat.

The pic below is from my daily driver Civic SI.

Thanks guys. Much appreciated. I dont plan to show the car I may go to the usual meet and greet deal with some NJ events but nothing competition wise or anything. I will probably go with DupliColor. Thanks again. Only problem I'm having is deciding whether I want to go with orange calipers or black. Im getting a black LS and will tint the windows and black most of the car ie. bezels and possibly bowties down the road. However Im going to do an orange interior so I may do orange calipers just to offset all the black. I think it'd look nice.

DupliColor doesnt make orange caliper spray paint. You guys think this would work?

http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...%7CGRP2050____

Says for engines and resists heat up to 500 degrees F. So I think I should be ok using this on my calipers right?

I used the Dupli-color Caliper Paint kit on my Mitsu. Eclipse.

http://www.duplicolor.com/products/caliperPaint/

It's been about 20k miles on it now and they still look good, just need a little clean up to get the dust off. I would recommend Clear coating them to get them looking really nice, I regret not doing that on my eclipse. I will be painting the calipers on the Camaro Red sometime in the future, probably after the wheel upgrade.
