VIN Decoding

Here is my attempt at decoding 2010 Camaro VIN's.

I have seen two VIN so far
2G1FE1EV9A9000021
2G1FS1EW3A9000033

Positions #1, #2, #3 GM make Identifiers
"2" for Canadian Made
"G" for GM
"1" for Chevrolet

Position #4 Car line
"F" for F-body

Position #5 Series
"E" for 1LS
"F" for 1LT
"H" for 2LT
"S" for 1SS
"T" for 2SS

Position #6 Body Types
"1" for Two Door Coupe/Sedan

Position #7 Restraint Codes

Position #8 Engine Codes (Need Help Here)
"V" for the LLT (3.8 V-6 DI VVT) ????
"W" for the LS3 or L99 ???
Should be more codes depending on motor/trans combos.

Position #9 Check Digit (Maybe)
Though it chould be the Transmission code

Position #10 Model Year Code
"A" for 2010

Position #11 GM Plant Code
"9" for Oshawa

Positions #12 through #17 Plant Sequence Number

Anyhow just some guesses here.

Can anyone else help???

Thanks guys. Great help
Great Vin Decoding site Number 3. Downloaded about 10 years of them.
So my next questions is, what is the other engine code or codes?
Must be one for the L99. Anyone know?
Is there 2 different engine codes for the V-6 depending if MM6 or MX0?

VIN Decoder Update (Not Complete Yet)

First thanks to Number 3 for providing this link and other information.
http://service.gm.com/dealerworld/vincards/

Also to camaropete for his post; though not quite right I don’t think.
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpost.php?p=233103

So here is what I have come up with so far.

VIN numbers we’ve seen
2G1FF1EV0C9000003 Victory Red 1LT LLT (manual) the test Car (Number 3) drove
2G1FE1EV9A9000021 Silver Ice Metallic LS LLT (manual) from the Portland Show
2G1FF1EV7A9000029 Black 1LT LLT (manual) from the Toronto Show
2G1FS1EW3A9000033 Victory Red 1SS LS3 (manual) the Test Car (HeatherR) drove
2G1FK1EJ9A9000039 Inferno Orange Metallic 2SS/RS L99 (auto) from Toronto
2G1FC1EV4A9000109 Rally Yellow 2LT/RS LLT (auto) from the Jacksonville Show

Positions #1, #2, #3 GM make Identifiers
"2" for Canadian Made
"G" for GM
"1" for Chevrolet

Position #4 Car line
"F" for F-body

Position #5 Series
“E” for 1LS (1EE37)
“F” for 1LT (1EF37)
?” for 1LT/RS
“H” for 2LT (1EH37)
“C” for 2LT/RS
“S” for 1SS (1ES37)
?” for 1SS/RS
“T” for 2SS (1ET37)
“K” for 2SS/RS

Position #6 Body Types
"1" for Two Door Coupe/Sedan (1E?37)

Position #7 Restraint Codes

Position #8 Engine Codes
"V" for the LLT (3.8 V-6 DI VVT)
"W" for the LS3
“J” for the L99

Position #9 Check Digit

Position #10 Model Year Code
"A" for 2010

Position #11 GM Plant Code
"9" for Oshawa #1

Positions #12 through #17 Plant Sequence Number

I have yet to confirm “H” for 2LT and “T” for 2SS though they seem to fit.
Also I have no idea what the codes for 1LT/RS and 1SS/RS might be.
I haven’t seen any examples of these yet.

If anyone would like to help to complete this VIN Decoder.
Pictures of the VIN numbers sure would help, along with a description of the car.
VIN numbers are found three places on these cars, outer left corner of dash,
on the label on the driver’s door and on the “Service Parts Identification” label found in the trunk.
The service parts identification label is my preference.

It sure would be nice if fbodfather could confirm the accuracy of this VIN Decoder

Thanks. Updated. Now I'm wondering if there's another code for 1SS Auto?

I found my VIN for my RALLY SS2 CAMARO at 7:30AM Thursday, March 26, 2009.
My production number is 713.
Guide me to that page again, please!

Last edited by RAY; 04-20-2009 at 08:50 PM. Reason: Transposed production #; should read 713, not 371!
