Question Auto Or Manual (2010)

It seems to me after research, the auto v8 with 400 hp is alot more efficient and faster than the manual 422hp. They rated the Manual at 0-60 4.9 secs and a 1/4 mile in 13.4 secs. The auto does 0-60 in 4.6 secs and clear a 1/4 mile in 13.3 secs.

Now just curious. Which one did u guys order auto or manual? And which one do u think its better?

****heres the link to the article*****

That article is like 7 months old, and has since been said to be innacurate. Supposedly they are very close 0-60. the G8 GXP does it in 4.7, and is a bit heavier than the Camaro.

There have been no production tests reported to the best of my knowledge. That appears to be an old article. We just don't know yet.

I went with the 2SS auto w/ tap shift. This will be my daily driver and I will be putting 500 miles on it every week. I'm always stuck in traffic, so the auto will make my life easier.

Having owned an automatic (TH 400) 1968 SS/RS 396 and a 1969 4-speed SS 396 I can personally attest to the consistancy of the automatic. However, the 4-speed was a heck of a lot more fun to drive and my personal favorite.

i too have been doing a lot of research on both. i have a 2000 ss 6speed with a hurst shifter and i have been getting tired of the constant shiffting the past few years. i ordered the 2ss/rs auto this time. guys busting my stones at work, they think all muscle cars should be sticks. they are fun to drive and only you can say which will suit your needs, but both are good motors and you will be happy with either. i have driven a lot of auto vettes and have always enjoyed them so.............

the GXP does have much better overall gearing though.

I went with manual, only because it's more fun for me, and I won't be using mine for work, so I won't be driving it THAT much... I think the speed times and the fuel economy are gonna be pretty close, especially since the auto has 6 speeds, slightly less HP, and the AFM. On top of that, the auto is a nearly $1,000 option, whereas the manual is no-cost. So really, money aside, go with what suits your needs and tastes, and either way, have fun!

The manual should be .1 faster with an excellent driver and .1 slower or more with a normal driver..
