Z/28: Now...or '16?

This just in, via GM Inside News, the Gen-6 Camaro will bow as an MY-'16. Perhaps as soon as early CY '15. And apparently there will be a DI 6.2L.

http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/f...2016-a-107703/

Combined with the smaller ATS-sized platform, sounds like the future makings of a badge-worthy ZEE, potentially...

Will we have to wait that l-o-n-g to see a ZEE?

Stay Tuned...

Not really. It'll be released in 2015 as a 2016 model. We're about to go into CY 2012 and the 2013 MY. So it's only three years off.

36 MONTHS? For a smaller Camaro. Likely, more road noise. Yes, superb performance but without the current road feel/comfort. And, will the new platform in a Z28 be as hard to get "when" it is introduced as the ZL1 is now? Many of you could be waiting to chase a hard to get mirage. I'm taking delivery of what i "KNOW" is here now! Just for the record, I LOVE Z28. If it were out "now", and it had only 480-505 normally aspirated HP, I could easily have gotten it instead of the ZL1 and been very happy. My main point here, is, the long wait to Z28 may be met with fleeting realities similar to ZL1 availability. Dunno. Not to mention price increases between now and then. It may cost as much to get a Z28 in 36 months as a ZL1 costs now. (plus Im getting too old to wait folks - another story)

Edit: PS, my order is at code 3000 today, 12-21-11

It's a 2016 model. Meaning it will be go into production sometime in 2015. Think...the 2010 Camaro went into production in CY2009.

So 2013, 2014, 2015. Three years off.

On January 2nd, 2012, manufacturers can "legally" commence 2013 Model Year production, OK? So, theoretically, on Jan. 2/15 (36 months and 11 days from now), GM "could" start makin' '16 Camaros.

Now, you've used up you requisite "personal attention" time...ADD medication is available from www.paymesomeattention.com ...
