Hasn't GM always been known for things of this nature? Thats why the warranties are so great.

No they haven't. I have heard of recent issues with the Tremec transmissions. That may be because they are found in many applications all of which have high HP and torque.

That sounds like a material flaw right there. It's the foundry that cast the shaft blanks for machining whose at fault. Not Tremec, and not GM. And definitely nothing that could have been seen before hand unless they had an eddy-current setup doing NDT checks on the transmission components (which would be expensive as all get out..).

my camaro did the same thing on saterday, one day after delivery, and my dealer already had a PI# on the problem. the PI# is #PIP4666A: vehicle will not move in any gear: . they are replacing the trans with a new one.

Guys, let me ask you. Is a high HP high torque vehicle more likely to have drivetrain problems? IS this why so many Japanese cars rarely have drivetrain issues? My Camry has no torque at all

I don't mind maintaining my machines. I change my toyotas tranny fluid even though my last camry went 130,000 miles on its original transmission fluid. It was never changed.
Sold it. It didn't die. |

.... if you think that driving a Super Sport with 426 hp and romping on it and driving it like you're supposed to is never going to break anything, you should have kept your Toyota. The drivetrain in the Camaros is stout, but that doesnt mean it's bullet proof. If you think Japanese cars rarely have drivetrain issues, I invite you to look up any other high performance Japanese car forum (WRX STI, Supra, Skylines) and look in their troubleshooting section. Regardless of manufacturer, if it makes alot of power, it's going to break something in the drivetrain eventually. Comparing an SS Camaro to your old Camry is beyond pointless.
