I need a bulb. And my Owner's manual says...

...on page 10-46 "Vehicle Care", in the 'replacement bulb' chart, that I may have as an exterior lamp:

Daytime Running Lamp (Uplevel vehicles) Bulb number PSX26W

...or I may have...

Fog Lamp (except for ZL 1) Bulb number PSX26W

Really. I might need a PSX26W, or maybe I might need a PSX26W. Interesting.

The real fun comes when I read the directions for replacing the bulbs on page 10-45. It's like Cliff's Notes met a Hayne's manual and spawned a non-talkative child. In a nutshell:

1) locate bulb under fascia
2) Disconnect electrical connector and remove bulb
3) install new bulb
4) reconnect electrical connector.

Fascinatingly technical. Why didn't they just print:

1) Reverse procedure for installation (see step 2)
2) Reverse procedure for removal (see step 1)

Step 1 should be the 'warning'.

1. This is going to be a pain in the a$$, so be ready to cuss.

Go Cree LED and get the wiring harness so they stay on with your headlights, you'll really like it. LED's burn cooler and match the HID's better.

y'all forgot to put in the step to tell you that to access the DRL/FOG's you need to remove some of the inner fender well to get to the back of the fascia and the back of the housing! lol

That's the thing. I didn't forget it. The owner's manual does.

It literally says, verbatim:

1. Locate the bulb assembly under the front fascia.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the bulb assembly and pull out the bulb assembly.
3. Push in the new bulb assembly to lock it into place.
4. Reconnect the electrical connector to the bulb assembly.

Word for word those are the instructions. May as well say "to replace bulb remove bad bulb, install new bulb". Works for anything really. I should be a technical writer at this point. Watch this, I can do as good a job:

Camshaft replacement/installation, pushrod V8 engine:

1) Open hood
2) Use required tools to remove camshaft
3) Install replacement camshaft by reversing procedure in step 2
4) Close hood

Totally Car Craft stuff, right? I know!

But why stop there? I can be a brain surgeon at this rate! I already know how:

1) render "patient" unconscious using what have you, mallet preferred.
2) saw open head at top
3) fix up the brains with medical knowledge and required tools [note: step 3 is critical]
4) put chunks of skull back on head, tape in place
5) leave bill where "patient" can find it when (if) "patient" awakes
6) flee, in case "patient" fails to awaken

Not needed. there is a small access hole under the front fascia to reach in and change them.

Because just saying "reverse the procedure" implies that one should reinstall the burned out bulb. You will be holding two bulbs in your hand at this point they need to tell you which one goes in the car.

My boss once said the only thing more dangerous than a technician that doesn't do what you say, is a tech that does EXACTLY and ONLY what you say. I've met techs who would not think twice about putting the old bulb back in since the "book said so".

I'm not really sure what you're trying to say, but if it helps, I will let you in on a secret:

What I posted was not a serious attempt at a real procedure. You have been fooled by a devilishly underhanded post.

LOL the only part I was serious about was the tech that would make the mistake, they exist in real life.
