Square Wheel/Tire Set-up on ZL1
Who out there is running this set up on their car? Advantages/disadvantages?
Are you using 11 in wheels all the way around or 10.5? Same size tires all the way around? Do tell.

The reason they run a square setup on the Z/28 is balance. The car handles better. So will a ZL1. Generally I have 11 wide front and 11.5 rears made for my clients.

I thought maybe handling would be better with wheels and tires all the same size. Also they could be rotated. So how is 11 in wide fronts and 11.5 in rears ( on 20 in wheels) square? I thought both tires and rims would need to be exact same size all the way around, like i ran on my 67 Camaro?

This is the setup the 1LE/Z28 have. Wheel widths are different front/rear but tire sizes are the same all 4 corners. He is referring to a square setup of "tires", not "wheels+tires". So obviously you couldn't rotate them

Been running square since 3500 miles or 2 years ago on replicas 285/35/20, love it. The original rims and Goodyears remained stored.

Square Wheel/Tire Set-up on ZL1
I run square on 11" rims with the same offset F and R. I can't answer your question though because I wasn't able to run any tracks I had ran previously with the stock wheels/tires before I moved and got the square setup. I do run a very small spacer in the front mostly to be able to run more camber...and I have camber plates...LOL.

I run a square-ish setup - Z/28 wheels with 305s at all for corners. It does a great job of reducing understeer and makes it easier to rotate the car using minor throttle and brake inputs, but I wouldn't recommend it to track noobies - what is "neutral" at lower speeds can become quite a handful at higher speeds. There is significantly less margin for error with this setup.
