Big screen died....

So after my failed attempt at repair (Heck im an engineering technician and these tv's ... they are beyond normal logic circuits...) me and the wife sat down and decided, nope we can't live without the tv.

So.. on the way is a nice shiny brand new....

61" LED DLP HDTV

with a new player....

Blu-ray

This might delay the camaro purchase by about 2 months.. but with the intervening time between already looking like late 09... whats another couple of months..

The thing with there new Samsung DLP's is that they are LED... No lamps, No color wheel (the only way I would by a DLP).

The LED's are rated for the life of the product.

They are also the ONLY DLP manufacturer that uses LED's.

Yep...I've sung the praises of the Samsung DLPs for years...The 56" is brand new also. Well 6 months but it was the Newest of the New at the time.

It has the LED bulb, but Im not to sure about the color wheel, not sure how it would work otherwise.....HUH...Im gonna have to research that.

Thanks you gave me something to do, other than twitle my thumbs waiting for the 5th.

The LED's are divided into there own seperate colors. Red, Green and Blue LED's. This is the main difference as the lamps ALL give off "white" light that has to be tinted.

For the money you spent on the player, buy a PS3.

Yea, I convinced myself and canceled the Blu-ray player. The biggy feature for me was the ethernet/wireless connection of the ps3 for firmware updates. That should make up for the extra just in frustration for new drm codes and such.

Lucky.... haha. With football season coming around and being in a new house and all, a tv is a must have, and I've been looking around for something between 1000 and 1200 bucks. The 50in Samsung HLT5089S is closer to 1400 though =(. I want 1080p just so I don't have to worry about upgrading down the line, plus p is a ton better than i. Oh well.

Nice, you are going to love the PS3, I was playing Motorstorm on my father-in-laws 65" last weekend, talk about a rush. I can't wait to get a PS3 for my little 40" Sony Bravia.
