Take a peek at the new Chevy Volt

http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=5545196

"Plug it in to any outlet overnight and it will go 40 miles without a drop of fuel, 650 miles on a single fill-up. At least that was the promise when the Volt concept was unveiled."

I though I saw a nissan commercial claiming that the new Altima could already do 600 miles on a single fill up- maybe HYW. But the concept of not using a drop of gas for up to 40 miles sounds real good! I hope they can pull it off...

It is called the Chevy Volt -- and, if it works, it will mean the average commuter could go months between fill-ups, making the Prius look like a gas-guzzler.
AHahahhahaha!! YES!! This is what they need to start saying!

Imagine that commercial:
"The 2011 Chevrolet Volt; it makes the Prius look like a gas-guzzler." heehee!

Range has just as much to do with tank size as with efficiency. I could put a 100 gallon tank on a Hummer and get it well over 600 miles, but that doesn't make it as fuel friendly as the Volt.

God, I hope they stick with the concept like they did with the Camaro.

Here we go again. They show us a concept that is really cool and then now are saying it will now just look like an average car. Over promise and under deliver again.

Anything GM puts out has got to look better than a Prius. I am looking forward to getting one of these for my wife someday, but I will need to get a bottle of Sta-Bil with the amount of miles my wife drives to and from work.

I hope to god you are not referring to the camaro when you allude to the past 'disappointments'.

The concept is about as aerodynamic as a barn. If we got that, it wouldn't be efficient and that is the whole point. People who buy cars like this care about being conspicuous about their eco-friendly purchase. As long as it attracts attention, it will sell well.

Also, the renderings in the links provided are third party speculations, not official GM images. This is just internet "journalists" guessing.

Does it run on ugly? Damn—it makes me want run! What happened to the gorgeous concept? I heard the wind tunnel didn't go so well, but the redesign went downright wrong.
