Camaro's Fuel Efficiency Real World?

I am considering buying a Camaro 2SS/RS with the LS3 motor. I drive about 100 miles a day round trip to and from work 4 days a week. My question is what kind of mpg's can I expect to get out of the LS3? Approximately 80-90% of my commute is all highway going the same speed. I have spoken to others who have Corvettes with the LS3 motor that if they keep it in 6th gear with the RPM's low and keep it around 65-70 MPH and they don't hammer it they can get around 26-28 mpg highway. Does anyone see this as feasible?

I really don't want to get the V6 but my wallet says otherwise......

for that kind of driving I think it'd be safe to say around 25
I drive 10 miles of highway and 2 miles of city for a 1-way commute to work and average 19mpg. That being said one must take into consideration the fact that I don't take it easy much and normally accelerate hard....one buddy told me "u drive like the police"

On a real flat highway without doing ANY passing and keeping it 65, I can get a steady 28mpg. Seen it go as high as 32 but inevitably drops down to the 27/28 range.

That being said... What will drop it back down to the 25 range is as soon as you get off the highway... then you'll be doing 22's or 20's and at the end of the day will being averaging around 23mpg.. maybe as high as 25 if you creep away from stoplights. Even two or three stoplights will kill your MPG for the day. Strange but true.

You might get 25 sometimes, my guess is you'd be lucky to get 20 mpg combined. I have the V6 and babying it, I only get combined ave. of 22-23 mpg.

Just did 324mil trip all express way speed was 77mph except in construction areas, didn't hammer it at all was on cruse the hole way. Computer said avg speed was 73 and MPG was 23.3. I'm guessing I was out of sweet spot. Realy do think they did a great job with the cruse control realy easy to slow down or speed up hell even to set it.

Drove from south Texas to Kansas over the summer and averaged 25 mpg for the trip!

Put on the cruise, about 70 or 75...very doable!

I drive my SS to and from work every now and then. It's ~90 miles round trip. Most of it is highway (60-70 MPH) with some stoplights and traffic on either end of the commute. The last time I drove it in, I reset the MPG gauge at home and it was showing 21 MPG when I got back home that night. Now, there were times when I was on it pretty good so I was in no way babying it. I think realistically, you can expect that kind of mileage or better if you are careful.

In the summer, I drive mine to work every day. That is 10 miles one way, with 2 stop signs and 7 lights and 4 big hills. I usually get 23 - 24 mpg back and forth to work for the week. If you get on it on the hills it will go to 21 mpg. Have never got lower than 21mpg in 7000 miles.

RE

This is all really great information. I was really hesitant to get the manual with the LS3 but now I am definitely gonna go for it!

I drive about 100 miles/day also, about 60% highway and 40% city. I have a 1SS Manual, and I average about 20 mpg. I"m sure I could do a little better, but I"m happy with that number. I have about 1600 miles on it so far.
