Walther P22
Anybody here have experience with this weapon? I've read numerous reviews of it and I've been thinking about picking one up for target and possibly some CCW use. All discussion of caliber aside, I'm just wondering if anybody has any good or bad experiences to relate.
- X P.S. - Alternatively, I was thinking about the Ruger LCP .380

I've had my P22 for about 4 years and love it. It's a great little gun for plinking and women aren't intimidated by it so it's a good handgun to teach newbies with. My only complaint is that it's a little difficult to reassemble, but not impossible. I've heard some people talk about having feeding issues but I think they must be running dirt ammo through them, I fire Federal or Winchester Valu-Pak through mine and I don't think I've ever had a malfunction.

A friend of mine has one and really likes it. I've shot it a lot and they're a lot of fun. He put a threaded barrel in his and has a silencer for it. That's kinda cool except it causes it to stovepipe on occasion.

I love my P22 for plinking however if it were me I'd go with one of the preponderance of small .380s that have popped up for CCW instead of the P22 if for no other reason than variety of ammo choices.
.22LR your choices are pretty much lead or plated lead....

Love that little gun. It's accurate as all get out, weighs like 10 ounces, and reliable. Carry it in a DeSantis nemeis holster inside the pocket. no bigger than a PDA or iphone. |

Speer makes a good Gold-Dot Hollow Point in .380 thats supposed to be exception. Its a more modern deep cavity design that gives more consistent expansion. Since they're the same price as the Hydrashoks its a better deal IMO... ETA Oh and just FYI, IIRC that Quick-Shok might not be compatible with the P22. I seem to remember it being a slightly longer case that won't fit the P22 chamber but I could be wrong about that...
