What vendors make aluminum and racing drive shafts for the SS?

Curious if anyone has done this and if they retained the 2 piece design or not.

We'll have one out soon. Were working on having one in a Camaro for the Power tour next month.
It's a one piece with a billet pinion yoke, the only way to go for performance driveshafts IMO.

Thanks
Chris

We have a 1 piece and a 2 piece that we have been testing for a while ,it seems the camaro just like other irs cars of this day and time are not set up to use a 1 piece ,not only does a one piece have a lower critical speed it will be more prone to vibration. We have not given up on the one piece but it hasnt past our test yet.We will have a two piece ready shortly.

I was just going to ask on the one versus 2 piece.

I think this is the problem we are facing with rear driveline vibrations and the rubber donut. Next week I am pulling the stock unit to send out for a rebalance job. Hope it works but I rather use a nice lighter aluminum unit. PM direct if anyone has something that works and doesn't vibrate.

We've had great success with the one piece driveshafts in the GTO. The GTO's are IRS cars and the one piece shafts work great in them.
Here are a couple threads on our GTO shafts, sorry if they are many pages long but they are full of excellent reviews.
Take a look through these threads at the feedback, reviews and pics and you’ll see that everybody loves the one piece shafts.

We don’t make a 2 piece driveshaft. I don’t like 2 piece shafts. They work great for OEM applications where drivetrain vibrations and chassis miss alignment issues require them but IMO they have no place in a high powered performance car.
They are heavy, they have the middle bearing support that can fail at high speed and are an extra parasitic power loss point.
There are no 2 piece shafts that are SFI approved that I know of, our one piece carbon fiber shafts are SFI approved and tested to hold 2800 ft lbs of torque and run 180 mph on the dyno with absolutely no vibrations.
The Carbon Fiber shafts have a very high critical rpm speed, over 10,000 rpms!

Our one piece shafts use billet pinion yokes and don’t use vibration prone adapters like some 1 piece and 2 piece shaft manufactures have used that gave aftermarket shafts a bad rap.

I'll have one of our 3.75" carbon fiber driveshafts in a very high profile car on the power tour in a few weeks.
We've had a couple of our prototype shafts in cars in Florida for about 6 months now and they work flawlessly.
Once we get some feedback on how the carbon fiber shaft works on the power tour we'll get some pics and prices out.

Thanks
Chris

Fyi your stock drive shaft weighs 16lbs, with the rubber its 22lbs.A 1 piece aluminum will come in around 18lbs or so,you will never see any advantage in your 4000lb camaro by saving 4 lbs, you can buy into the hype of carbonfiber, which will save you another 2lbs or so, the carbonfiber shaft will absorb a little more shock than the aluminum but not as much as the 2 piece. The problem with the camaro is the driveline angle ,it doesnt lend it self for a 1 piece to be a 100% TROUBLE FREE for every one.It may work in a few cars but then another guy has a vibration issue wih the same shaft. Your stock ds would have to be really out bad to be causing issues.I would check your rubber spacers and your center hanger. If we can help you out give us a call.980-521-0722

Hey g force

Are you saying a 1 piece carbonfiber drive shaft that will actually fit the 2010 camaro has a critical speed of 10,000rpm?

10,000 rpm's is conservative. It's more then that. I'll dig up the # when I go in to the shop tomorrow.
It's more like 11,000 - 11500 rpm's. The big carbon fiber shafts can really turn the rpm's.

Thanks
Chris

Good info so far. The only reason I have interest is because my 2 piece OEM unit is causing a vibration at high speeds. I think its the offset and the rubber donut.

I had this issue many years ago on another car with a 2 piece drive shaft. I later switched to an aluminum one and the problem was solved.

I had the car up and all the stuff readjusted and still not much different than before.

Its something with the design of this car. Some guys dont feel it and others do. it also depends on how fast your driving and I notice lots of 5th Gen guys are pampering their cars.

If time permits this week I am going to pull my OEM and send it to the local shop to balance check it. Something has to be off.

Just check your rubber good,we havnt seen any vibration in our 2 piece shafts,we dont use rubber it has a solid conection and a huge center bearing .Let me know if a rebalance helps you, good luck
