15% to spend on mods? Best way?
OK, I pulled this off once and may get to do it again. My wife fully understands that "ready to race" means that it will cost more money. Purchased a "ready to race" KTM dirt bike, but spent about 15% more to make it survive the way it gets used in the desert. I just hope the O&M is cheaper with a car.... I know, keep dreamin...
I would like to apply the same logic(?) with the Camaro. No plans to race or be a show car. Based on purchase price and my crazy logic that all things need improved, what would be the best way to spend $6K? Weather is nice so its basically a daily driver, but more torque/HP would be nice. Would love to supercharge it, but its probably out of the price range and impractical. I live in the Southwest so I should be able to open it up once in a while. Totally happy with the looks and interior so it has be a significant improvement before I would be inclined. The car will see the occasional track or drag strip day, but it will be mainly used for daily driving. Too nice to be sitting in the garage. Get creative and let me know your thoughts. |

Long tubes, cat back, cold air, tune, cam, short throw shifter, drag radials.
That should be about 6k. or CAI, Long tubes, tune, and a new set of wheels. |

cam, full exhaust, tune, and tires. that should do it. if you have any leftover go for a shifter. if you wanted to spend some more id say heads too.

$6000 to spend... piece of cake!
American Racing or Kooks headers and cats: $1450 Corsa cat-back exhaust: $1200 ADM street intake: $500 Comp cam & double valve spring kit: $950 custom dyno tune: $300 (these prices are different all over the place) for a M6 tranny: Richmond 4.10 gears: $600 MGW shifter assembly: $350 for an A6 tranny: Richmond 3.73 gears: $600 Yank ss3200 torque converter: $800 that is UNDER budget, and i listed the highest quality parts in each category! i just hope you can install all that yourself, cuz installation labor is a b!tch!!! if you want to stretch your dollar even further, get: Texas-Speed complete headers back exhaust: $1650 (instead of ARH or Kooks headers & Corsa exhaust) SLP intake pipe and drop-in filter: $180 (instead of ADM street intake) Texas-Speed cam, valve springs, & pushrod package: $700 (instead of Comp Cam package) Pfadt Racing Sport Suspension package: $800 Nitrous Outlet Wet plate kit: $725

Still looking at supercharger options, but I think Redjewel2SS's suggestions would be more in line with budget and my driving circumstances. More online shopping soon... Can't wait to get back home. Currently overseas on a work trip and comms are limited.

Whatever HP mods you decide on, don't forget the suspension. Definitely get a set of lowering springs or coilovers and a good set of sway bars. The Pfadt track pack would be a great setup for $800.
