Something stock new v6 automatic Camaros CAN'T do ...

Chirp the tires in 3rd gear!
(click picture below)
  • with windows up and windows down
  • camera placed snugly in open space of raised passenger's side head rest facing backwards (sorry, sun's glare whitewashed scenery)
  • car has 2k on the odo and is 100% BOX STOCK (right down to the air filter)

Ok...so after I read this and posted I realized I never actually really tried to bark the tires in 3rd.

Took the 2LT RS out, on a roll stabbed it (chirp), 2nd gear (aggressive tire bark), 3rd gear (little chirp). YAY! Those damn 20's look great but they sure are tall. Glad I could do it...I'm done

For tonight

WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU NEVER TRIED!

Good to hear you guys with the 20's can do it. Basically, I made the vid because some Stang guys are saying how their 11 v6 Stang gets rubber in 3rd gear.

Well, so can we!

Getting on the freeway I thought I heard and felt my tires chirp going to 3rd, but then I thought I was just crazy. Good to know I'm not (about this, at least). Awesome.

Nope, we're not crazy!

It might not be as aggressive a 3rd gear chirp when an '11 v6 Stang does it (see below), but it's there!

(here's clips of an 11 v6 Stang getting good 3rd gear rubber at the track, the links are on a post by chrisheltra 4 posts down from top of page):

I have the 2LT RS and those damn 20s havent chirped except once on a sloped driveway haha. Looks like more experimentation is needed!

Well, if we had the gearing the stang does we'd forsure be gettin more rubber in 3rd....not to mention 300 lbs less weight! So I think that makes the Camaro V6 gettin a chirp in 3rd damn impressive =)
